What Kind of Hair is That?

Before I really get into writing this post I want to first ask you to forgive me because I know I can be rather silly at times. I simply can’t help it.

Okay I was at the club this weekend. Anyway as I was grooving on the dance floor I couldn’t help but be distracted by the girl across from me. Why was I distracted? Because her weave was fly. It looked really natural on her. She had her hair matched very well to the weave and I’m sure she has a good hair stylist.

Later on that night we both happened to be in the bathroom at the same time where I was able to get a really good look at her hair thus realizing that it was a weave.  Now the question is after I was like “girl your hair is fly” would it have been inappropriate to ask her where she got it from?

Hey let me know your opinion, I personally think that ladies should share some of their beauty secrets, right?

Fruits and Vegetables: Promote Beauty and Health

Fruit makes you go. Vegetables make you glow.

Have you heard the saying that fruit makes you go and vegetables make you glow? It’s a catchy phrase that actually has something to it. Besides the fact that fruits and vegetables are critical to promoting good health they can have a good effect on your energy and add shine to your skin.

If you aren’t in the habit of getting a healthy dosage of fruit and vegetables maybe you should consider it. This summer try adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet. Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, and fibers that may help protect you from chronic diseases. Compared with people who only consume small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases.

Fruits and vegetables are a great source of vitamin A which is great for your skin and also keeps your eyes healthy and helps to protect against infections. Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, spinach, turnip greens, mustard greens, kale, collard greens, winter squash, cantaloupe, red peppers, and Chinese cabbage are an excellent source of vitamin A.

Fruit and vegetable combinations for beautiful skin and energy

  • Carrot juice and cucumber together are great for acne
  • Asparagus is an excellent source of vitamin K and folate. Asparagus also contains high levels of vitamin C and A. These two antioxidants are important for reducing the negative effects of free radicals. Vitamin C is important for energy because it increases the body’s ability to absorb iron. Iron is needed to help transport oxygen in red blood cells. Asparagus is great for your skin.
  • Blueberries are full of flavonoids, anthocyanin, phenolic compounds, beta-carotene, ellagic acid, vitamin C, A and E. These nutrients make the blueberry one of the best fruits for protecting against chronic fatigue.
  • Broccoli, mangos and spinach are just a few of my favorites that also are good for energy.

Food Tips

  • Stay away from fatty deep fried foods if you have acne problems.
  • Did you know that food with a lot of onions can make you sleepy?
  • Vitamin C or even orange juice can calm the nerves.
  • Did you know that kiwi fruit has more vitamin C than oranges?

Braids and Acne Problems

Do you breakout on the sides of your face sometimes when you have braids? Some people do. When you wear braids, especially for a long period of time, the natural oils build up in your scalp. Natural oils are good though and they promote hair growth. Also, most of us use a variety of oil-sheens and moisturizing sprays to add luster to our braids. So eventually all the oil from your hair and the products you use on your scalp is on your braids. The problem is that dust and dirt in the air will stick to your hair as well. Some people already have sensitive skin so the oil and dirt that can be in your braids can cause you to break out where the hair touches your face the most.

Don’t be alarmed your hair being dirty is like the equivalent of sleeping on a dirty pillow case. Both aren’t good right? So on that note also notice that when you put oils in your hair which you should to maintain a good level of moisture, it also eventual gets on your pillow case as well. This can also promote skin irritation. Again don’t worry, the solution is simple.

  1. Wash your braids or twist braids once a week or every two weeks. Note you do not need to wash your whole head (at the scalp). You wet your hair up to a few inches from the scalp and wash the braids and rinse them well. Then redip them.
  2. Wash and or change your pillow case every week. This is good to do generally to promote the health of your skin. Dust and dirt from our bodies collect there without extra help from your hairstyle anyway.

Well I hope these tips help you out. Also, always try to use good natural products in your hair this will further minimize any irritation to your skin. There are great oil sheens with ingredients that are good for your whole body. There are some great leave in conditioners and moisturizers too.
